New underwater pipeline to transport recycled water across Hobart’s Derwent River

PROJECT UPDATE
  • The pipeline across the Derwent River, between Blackmans Bay and Algona St, South Arm, was completed in September 2024.
  • Kingborough Council has approved the construction of the Recycled Water Treatment Plant (RWTP) at Blackmans Bay, with site mobilisation scheduled to begin in Autumn 2025.
  • The contract for the construction of the North/South Pipeline on the South Arm Peninsula has been awarded to Tasmanian company, Batchelor Construction Group (BCG). Construction is expected to start in Autumn 2025.
  • A community information session will be held this Thursday 1st May 2025, 3pm – 8pm at the South Arm RSL.
  • Borehole water monitoring at the proposed Arm End Golf Course site is ongoing.
