South Arm Irrigation Scheme Phase 2:
The Float and Sink of 7kms of underwater pipe
Marine operations have commenced for the installation of Tasmania’s first Class A water irrigation subsea pipeline connecting both sides of the Derwent River.
The installation will provide water certainty for the first time in South Arm’s history.
This work is being carried out by Tasmanian firms, Batchelor Construction Group as the principal contractor with three subcontractors, Tasaqua, Ambush Workboats & Tas Diving Group.
The Marine Observation requirements are being overseen by Total Dives Solutions in their capacity as international Marine Mammal Observers.
Construction has commenced and should take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The Notice to Mariners has been issued to ensure that all vessels are 500m away from the marine operations.
